More children at the village centres

Healthcare and education build a community together. Around 40 children from classes 1 to 9 come to the Kuteer six evenings a week, Monday through Saturday, for tuition with professional tutors — help with the subjects they are struggling with, and the confidence that comes from finally understanding.

Every child is given an evening snack before the session begins. A hungry child cannot concentrate, and no child should have to.

Beyond the syllabus

  • Computer awareness — a weekly class for students of grades 8 and 9, building the digital skills their schools cannot yet offer.
  • Yoga — Sunday sessions in traditional practice, for physical steadiness and mental calm.
  • Learning outside the classroom — excursions that show children what their studies are actually for.

The village tuition centres

The Kuteer also runs tuition where the children are, rather than asking them to travel.

  • In Narsimpalli village, teachers we employ take tuition for around 100 government-school children of classes 1 to 8, six days a week.
  • In Narsimpalli Thanda, the same is done for 20 children of classes 1 to 5, six days a week.

These are ordinary government-school pupils whose families cannot pay for coaching, in villages where none is on offer at any price.

The Bangalore excursion

Education is not only academics; it is opening doors to what a child did not know existed. We took our students to Bangalore, to the Jawaharlal Nehru Planetarium, the Visvesvaraya Industrial and Technological Museum, Cubbon Park and the aquarium.

They came back with questions we could not answer. That was the point.
